Ellie and Rupert’s gorgeous Houghton Lodge Wedding
Houghton Lodge hold’s a very special place in my heart. I used to live just up the road in Nether Wallop, best village name ever, and my son actually took his first ever steps on the lawn at Houghton Lodge about 15 years ago. I’ve had this photo of him in my office ever since. He now towers over me, but this is how he’ll always be to me.
It’s just the most wonderful place, with its gorgeous walled gardens, sweeping lawns down to the River Test and stunning planting all year round. Sophie and her team work so hard to make this the most fantastic wedding venue.
So when Ellie got in touch from Singapore, where her and Rupert where living at the time, I was super excited to be going back to shoot at Houghton Lodge and their glorious gardens, especially in June when the rose arbour is in its full glory.
Ellie and Rupert got married at the beautiful St Marys Church in Old Basing, they had THE most chilled out Vicar, such a dude! Check him out in the photos .. I wish all vicars were this legendary!
They travelled in “Dolly”, a wonderful bright red 2CV, who was part of the family and headed to Houghton for their celebrations.
After some unbelievably hot days of summer 2018, this day was perfect for spending time in the gardens and by the river without feeling like you’re melting. Hula hooping, skittles and pass the pig by the river … its a dream wedding as far as Im concerned !
Ellie wore a gorgeous 2 peice wedding dress by designer Sassi Holford, from Brides of Winchester, with a Helen Martin veil. Her incredible wild flower bouquet was made by Flowers by Hannah. It was such a gorgeous, colourful and joyful array of flowers.
If you’re planning a Houghton Lodge Gardens wedding please do get in touch.
Enjoy these summer vibes on this cold wintery day.
