Georgie + Pete’s remote Scottish wedding.
This was a special one for me. It was one month after I got married, so my new husband and I used this as an excuse for a little mini moon up to Scotland. We stayed in some wonderful places and did some big walks in the incredible countryside. I’d love to explore much more of this magical land.
Georgie and Pete decided on a small wedding with just family…
“When we got engaged we where both a little nervous about the wedding. We both shy away from being centre of attention.
The year before my brother got married in Italy. A full on wedding with all the trimmings, but for it to be legal they actually got married in a registry office with just family before they went to Italy. I remember the registry service so vividly, more so than the Italian ceremony, it was so beautiful and emotional and you felt such a special part of their moment – it didn’t matter where we were, or if the flowers weren’t perfect, or if it was raining outside, it was just lovely – we wanted to recreate that feeling.
I didn’t want to be soooo nervous that I didn’t remember and enjoy the moment. So we decided to head for Scotland, a place we love with just our family. I’m so pleased we made the decision to do it. It was a stunning location and a fantastic day. I loved every minute – apart from the bit where the celebrant got lost and was 40 minutes late! It didn’t matter though.. we had nowhere we had to be after the ceremony. Just lots of champagne and delicious food to enjoy! I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Georgie and Pete chose the incredible Carskiey House
. It was built around 100 years ago and is full of wonderful and eclectic art work. Georgie is an amazing furniture upholsterer and lover of fabrics and this place is full of wonderful touches, and gorgeous pieces. I just loved exploring the house and grounds. The Mull of Kintyre is the south western most tip of the Kintyre Peninsula so prone to weather … and its is the 2nd line in the infamous song .. the mist did roll in that day, but the house was so glorious it didn’t matter that we couldn’t get down to the beach!!
Mull of kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh mull of kintyre
Far have i traveled and much have i seen
Dark distant mountains with valleys of green.
Past painted deserts the sunset’s on fire
As he carries me home to the mull of kintyre.
